CLEMSON – The 14 th -ranked Clemson Tigers opens the 2024 season against No 1. Georgia as they travel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for Saturday’s matchup.

Offensive coordinator Garrett Riley spoke with the media to preview the game against the Bulldogs.

–Starting the season with the top ranked team in the country gives the Tigers an opportunity to showcase their offseason growth. Riley said, “it’s a great challenge anytime you can go against a top ranked team to start your season, what a blessing and what an opportunity that is and so we know we have our work cut out for us, but we can’t wait to play them”

–In his second year, Riley has been able to see development in his offense. He said he has seen improvements during the offseason and fall camp in “the ability to make routine plays at a higher rate. I feel like we’re at a much better place and what our identity is, who we are, and what we’re about. I just think those things up to this point have been sharper.”

–After a year full of experience and game like situations, Riley needs Klubnik to translate what he has seen in practice to Saturday’s game. He said, “I can’t wait to see him play. I feel like we’re seeing a player now that’s just more settled in and more comfortable. I think he is going to take a huge step forward, but obviously he has to go do it on game day.”

–Riley was asked about the different dynamic at running back this season. Rather than splitting time between two guys he said, “it’s going to be a collection of guys, obviously we’ve got Mafah. Obviously, one of our best players, so he’ll certainly get featured a ton.” The Clemson coach added, “That room is going to have to be deep and play well and be production as a unit.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for Noon, and will be aired on ABC.
