Level of Attention to Detail New for This Group of Tigers

By all appearances, Matt Luke has had a profound impact on Clemson’s offensive line room.

The Tigers are expected to be much improved up front in Luke’s first year leading the group, with senior Marcus Tate noting that the energy Luke brings each and every day is on a different level compared to years past.

“One thing I would say is he is consistent with his energy,” Tate said on the Gramlich and Mac Lain podcast . “Every day he is going to come in there and he is the most energetic dude in the whole room. When we are out there at practice every day, he is talking to us, getting us hyped, letting us know it’s a game. It is a game set mentality, even at practice.”

However, one of the biggest differences is Luke demanding that his offensive linemen do the little things right.

“I just think the attention to details with him has been something that has been new for us,” Tate said. “He is very detailed about every little thing. Everything has to be exactly the way we vision it. So just trying to mee that standard with him, it can be tough at times, I think that is where greatness comes out when things are hard.”

Tate added that there is now a new standard in place and that the offseason has been a grueling process as the 14th ranked Tigers get set to open the season against No. 1 Georgia in Atlanta on Saturday (noon/ABC).

“I think he has been very challenging of us this whole offseason and throughout camp to meet that standard and try to perfect every little detail that we can and taste perfection when we are in practice,” Tate added. “It’s not like we’re out there just practicing to practice anymore. Everything is with intent and he is serious about it.”
