Clemson DB Reveals What Was 'Frustrating' About Loss to Georgia

Some lessons have to be learned the hard way.

The Tigers are hoping to turn the 34-3 blowout loss to No. 1 Georgia into one of those lessons, with cornerback Avieon Terrell readily admitting that going back and watching the film was not an easy process.

“It’s frustrating, especially watching film seeing everything that they did that we knew it was coming,” Terrell said on Tuesday. “It was very frustrating.”

The worst part, according to Terrell, was the fact that a lot of the issues that led to the defense allowing 20 second half points were self-inflicted.

“Just the little things, the little plays,” he said. “Stuff we knew was coming, we just ain’t fit the right gaps. Just little things that got us beat in the second half. That’s really what it was.”

In fact, the entire team watched the film together, something that Terrell believes will be beneficial to everyone in the room, including those on the coaching staff.

“It was good, as a team, so everybody could see what we did wrong and what we need to work on,” Terrell said. “I like that. The whole staff gets to see what somebody did wrong, so I felt like that was good. Just seeing what the team needs to work on.”

With the one-sided loss, Clemson dropped all the way down to No. 25 in this week’s AP Poll. With an App State team that has been known to go on the road and beat Power-4 teams in the past up next, any lessons learned from Saturday’s excruciating defeat will need to be learned quickly. And that is exactly what Terrell said the Tigers have been focusing on since arriving back from Atlanta.

“Just getting together as a team, flushing what happened last week and focusing on App State,” Terrell added. “Seeing what we need to improve on as a team.”

As Clemson attempts to put what happened in Atlanta in the rearview mirror and get ready for the Mountaineers, Terrell said head coach Dabo Swinney’s message has been a simple one.

“Just finish, focus on the little things,” Terrell said. “Just getting better on the little things and finish.”
