Florida State’s football season is off to a rough 0-2 start, and now there’s more bad news for the Seminoles as they will be without this offensive/special teams weapon for the rest of the 2024 campaign.

On Monday, FSU head coach Mike Norvell announced that junior running back Jaylin Lucas is out for the season. Norvell expects Lucas, who has eligibility remaining, to return next year.

Norvell said Lucas sustained an injury in the Seminoles’ last game, a 28-13 loss to Boston College on Sept. 2.

“Really disappointed for the young man. Very talented player, explosive athlete for us,” Norvell said. “But unfortunately, he has an injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.”

Through two games this season, Lucas logged two rushing attempts for 13 yards to go with three receptions for 39 yards.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pounder from Louisiana transferred to FSU after appearing in 23 games with eight starts over the past two seasons at Indiana.

For the Hoosiers, Lucas amassed 2,052 all-purpose yards (1,163 kickoff return yards, 546 rushing yards, 329 receiving yards and 14 punt return yards), and his three kickoff return touchdowns are tied for Indiana career record.

As a sophomore in 2023, Lucas made eight starts while playing in all 12 games and earned third-team All-Big Ten honors.

Clemson will travel to Tallahassee to play FSU on Saturday, Oct. 5.
