Georgia RB Would 'Seriously Consider' Clemson

The blowout win over App State last weekend was big for a myriad of reasons. One of the biggest being on the recruiting front.

Clemson had a number of high school prospects on hand for the offensive fireworks, with one of those being 2026 running back CJ Givers (Fellowship Christian, GA).

It was Givers’ second visit to campus, but this was his first time experiencing the game day atmosphere. He also took an unofficial visit back in the summer.

“Yeah, it was loud. It was really nice,” Givers told The Clemson Insider. “I mean, it was a great atmosphere. One of the best I’ve seen. It was pretty loud, and it was a blow out too. So, I mean everybody was happy in there. So I really liked it.”

Watching the Tigers rack up more than 700 yards of offense, with more than 250 of those coming on the ground, made it easy for Givers to see himself playing in Garrett Riley’s system.

“Their running back is kind of a running back that is using the pass game as well,” Givers said. “I really liked the runs they were doing. They were doing a lot of zone runs and things like that. And also I want to be used in the pass game a little bit too. Maybe going out and trying some slant routes and things like that.”

Givers and running backs coach CJ Spiller have been working on building a relationship since the contact period began back in June. While Givers did not get to talk with Spiller during the visit, the Clemson assistant made sure to touch base shortly after the game was over.

As far as a offer possibly coming at some point in the future, the coaches have told him they wanted to see what he does as a junior. So far, Clemson has offered just one running back in the 2026 class.

“I texted with (Spiller) a little after the game,” Givers added. “They kind of want to see how this season goes. Then they would get back to me with an offer potentially.”

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound back, who was first-team All-State a season ago, fully understands how Clemson goes about the recruiting process. The end goal is getting the offer, whether it comes now or after his junior campaign.

“Oh no, it doesn’t hurt,” he said. “I mean, I’m still young so I know I’ve got time. I’m very patient with them, so I mean, it’s not anything that’s really bothering me.”

Georgia Tech, Minnesota, SMU, Boston College, Miami, South Florida, NC State, Indiana, Kansas State, Kansas, UCF and Virginia, Tech are some of Givers’ more notable offers to date. Georgia Tech got a game day visit the week before he made it to Clemson.

Givers said he is hoping to get back to Clemson at some point this season, but as of now, nothing is official. Either way, he is going to continue to put in the work in an effort to secure that offer.

“Man, that’d be a huge thing,” said Givers. “I mean, Clemson is one of the best teams in the ACC so that just means a lot. That’s a place I would seriously consider.”
