TJ Moore has always loved Spiderman.

The freshman receiver can’t recall specifically when the love for the Marvels superhero began or even why it originated, but it’s an affection that goes back to Moore’s childhood days.

“I don’t know,” Moore said when asked why he gravitated towards the character. “I just love Spiderman. I got plenty of pictures of me wearing Spiderman stuff. Just always been something I have been interested in.”

Over the years, while making the acrobatic one-handed catches as a high schooler at Tampa Catholic, Moore has been told that he often resembles his favorite comic book character.

“I was told when I catch the ball, the ball sticks to me like Spiderman,” Moore added. “That has just always been something I thought was funny.”

“If the ball is coming at me, I am trying to make the play. No matter if it’s a PI or whatever.”

The former 5-star recruit is quickly making an impact on the Clemson offense. While he only played six snaps against Georgia in the season-opening loss in Atlanta, Moore saw the field early and often in the blowout win over App State. He finished the night with three catches for 44 yards, including the first touchdown catch of his college career, a 33 yard dart from quarterback Cade Klubnik.

“The play call, I had an in-route, which was like 12 yards,” Moore said. “I seen the safety sit and that made the zone perfect. So he was able to throw it right where I needed to be and as I caught the ball and scored, it just felt good.”

Being that Moore was not able to enroll early and joined the team in the summer, the acclimation process has come at the freshman fast. However, he is taking it in stride, and doing his best to settle in just as fast. Just like his childhood favorite, Spiderman, would.

“It wasn’t more about the learning the offense, but getting out of my high school habits,” Moore said. “Everything is more faster, a faster pace, so I’ve just had to get used to that.”
