Former Clemson, Current NFL Teammates Shine in Week 5

A couple of former Clemson and current NFL teammates played big roles in helping their team to a Week 5 win.

Isaiah Simmons and Dexter Lawrence both showed out in the New York Giants’ 29-20 road win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Simmons, playing in his first game on the Giants’ field goal block team, came up clutch with a blocked kick on a game-tying field goal attempt by the Seahawks in the waning moments of regulation.

The blocked field goal was returned for a 60-yard touchdown with 55 seconds left, clinching the win for the Giants.

While Simmons made a huge impact on special teams, Lawrence did the same on the defensive side of the ball.

The Giants All-Pro defensive tackle was a force to be reckoned with as he tallied four total tackles (two solo), three sacks, two tackles for loss and four quarterback hits in the contest.

Lawrence leads the Giants in sacks (six) and tackles for loss (four) through five games this season.

This past offseason, the Giants re-signed Simmons, who was an unrestricted free agent. A versatile linebacker/safety, he was traded to New York from the Arizona Cardinals prior the 2023 season.

Simmons won a couple of national championships at Clemson with Lawrence, who earned his second consecutive All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors last season.
