In-State LB Says Atmosphere at Clemson 'Unmatched'

An in-state linebacker recently made his return to Clemson.

2027 prospect Bubba Alexander (Hammond) was in town for the Tigers’ blowout win over NC State last month, his first time on campus since working out at camp in June. He also visited for a game last season.

Alexander grew up an avid fan of Dabo Swinney’s program , so any chance he gets to visit, it’s a memorable experience.

“It’s clear that the atmosphere is amazing<” Alexander told The Clemson Insider. “I was there with my dad and my little brother. I couldn’t even hear myself talk with how loud it was. That was something that we all said was how loud it was that day. The atmosphere is unmatched, that’s for sure.”

While Alexander maintains the game day atmosphere is unmatched, it’s the culture inside of the program that really peaks his interest.

“The whole place is welcoming,” Alexander added. “Everything is top notch too. Then going in the locker room at the end. That was really cool. Just the way they do their things there sets them apart from other people.”

Alexander would end up spending most of the day on campus. He got facetime with multiple coaches including general manager Jordan Sorrells, as well as safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Mickey Conn.

While he is currently a linebacker for his high school team, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound recruit is likely to get some looks as a safety at the next level. Either way, Alexander is itching for an opportunity, no matter the position.

“I think whatever I have a chance to play at, I’d be willing to play,” he said. “I’m not really like, ‘Hey, I’m a linebacker only  That’s all I’m ever going to play.’ If they say, ‘We’ll give you a shot if you play safety,’ I’d actually move to safety in a heartbeat. Wherever they need me, I’d be willing to play wherever. I think that ability wise, I can play safety and linebacker effectively. Just the way I play I definitely think that either way, I could do it at an effective and high level.”

The Clemson visit was Alexander’s first of the season. Last weekend he was in Columbia for South Carolina’s game against Ole Miss and he also plans on getting to NC State and Furman. The high school sophomore also said there is a chance he could be back at Clemson at some point later in the season.

While he is still extremely early in the process, an offer from the Tigers is one he is looking to earn. Not just because he grew up a fan, but because of everything Swinney’s program stands for.

“It would mean everything,” Alexander said. “To have an offer, or even just a chance to play at the next level, is something that most people will never be able to say that they could do. So to get an offer, especially from a prestigious school like Clemson, would be insane. Especially considering the very few kids they give offers out to. So to get a chance to play at the next level, especially at Clemson, would be something that very, very few could say they could have a chance to do.”
