    Randall's Resiliency Key for Tigers

CLEMSON — Clemson’s offensive prowess has not been an overnight process. Instead, it has been harnessed by the resilient leadership of veteran players.

Veterans like wide receiver Adam Randall. The former four-star recruit was besieged by injuries in the first two years of his career, suffering an ACL tear shortly after his arrival to campus in 2022 and fractures in the same bone in his left and right hands.

Despite physical setbacks, Randall has contributed in each of his seasons at Clemson. He made his collegiate debut on the field less than six months after his ACL reconstruction and played with his broken hand in multiple games in 2023.

Randall suffered his most recent injury this September. The veteran underwent a procedure to repair a stress fracture in his toe that was expected to keep him out of competition for a month.

Only two weeks after surgery, Randall returned in the 10th-ranked Tigers’ win over Wake Forest last Saturday

“He’s tough as nails,” Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik said. “He loves football, he loves the competition, he loves the game. He doesn’t want to be out of it for a second. I think that’s why he has so much respect on this team… He’s a great leader, he’s the leader of that room and he’s never taken a day off, even when he’s hurt.”

Randall divulged that his hunger to return to the team propelled him through adversity.

“Once I’m healthy enough that I’m safe enough to go out there and put my body on the line I’m going to do it,” he said.

Randall cited resiliency as his biggest point of pride throughout his career. This trait has paid off for the Myrtle Beach, S.C., native as he led his team in receiving yards against NC State and acquired his first career touchdown in the victory.

Now, Randall’s goal is to spread his mindset to younger receivers. According to the junior, the enemy of the Tigers’ future success is complacency.

“I want to keep them encouraged because they’re having a lot of success and I want to keep them hungry at the same time,” he said. “I don’t want them to be satisfied with what they’re getting now because eventually satisfaction is just going to be where you’re going to get complacent. I don’t want that for our room, I don’t want that for our offense, and I don’t want that for our team.”

The Tigers (5-1, 4-0 ACC) will try not get complacent against Virginia on Saturday (noon, ACCN).
