    Thunderstorms back in the Columbus-area forecast. Will the weekend be a rainy, windy one?

    Columbus is running out of summer weekends, and unlike last weekend , this coming one won't have perfect weather.

    Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible in Columbus Friday, and they could bring threatening gusty winds, according to a hazardous weather statement issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

    The storms may not let up after Friday, either. There's a chance of showers and storms throughout the weekend, only letting up on Tuesday.

    Here's the full forecast for the coming week.

    Columbus weather for the week of August 16, 2024

    • Friday : Showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m. with showers are likely and a thunderstorm is possible between 11 a.m. and noon, then there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. The high is near 86. and the chance of precipitation is 80%. Between a tenth and a quarter of an inch of rain is expected, but more could fall if it storms.
    • Friday Night: There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly before midnight. It'll be mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. The chance of precipitation is 40%. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, but more could fall if it storms.
    • Saturday : Showers and thunderstorms are likely mainly after 2 p.m. It'll be partly sunny with a high near 88. The chance of precipitation is 70%. Between a quarter and a half an inch of rain is expected.
    • Saturday Night : Showers are likely and a thunderstorm is possible before 8 p.m., then there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. It'll be mostly cloudy with a low around 68. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Between a tenth and a quarter inch of rain is expected, but more could fall if it storms.
    • Sunday : There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms then showers and a thunderstorm are possible after 2 p.m. The high will be near 81. The chance of precipitation is 90%. Between a tenth and a quarter inch of rain is expected, but more could fall if it storms.
    • Sunday Night : There will be showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 8 p.m., then there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. The low will be around 66 and the chance of precipitation is 80%. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, but more could fall if it storms.
    • Monday : There's a chance of showers after 8 a.m. Otherwise, it'll be mostly sunny with a high near 78. The chance of precipitation is 30%.
    • Monday Night : It'll be mostly clear with a low around 56.
    • Tuesday : It'll be sunny with a high near 78.
    • Tuesday Night : It'll be mostly clear with a low around 54.
    • Wednesday : It'll be sunny with a high near 80.
    • Wednesday Night : It'll be mostly clear with a low around 56.
    • Thursday : It'll be sunny with a high near 83.
