    Pickerington Central's Sherone White Jr. wins fan vote for top WR/TE in central Ohio

    Pickerington Central senior Sherone White Jr. is the fans' choice for the top high school football wide receiver/tight end in central Ohio. He finished first in a Dispatch poll that accompanied our look at the top 10 wide receivers/tight ends in the Columbus area .

    As he often does on the field, White sprinted away from the competition. He received 35,520 of 67,049 votes (52.98%). The only other player to exceed 5% was Hamilton Township junior Jovon McBride (37.36%).

    White, a Marshall commit, had 41 catches for 545 yards and three touchdowns last season. He also returned three kickoffs for scores and finished with 995 all-purpose yards, helping Central (8-4) reach a Division I, Region 3 quarterfinal.

    White and the Tigers kick off coach Jeff Lomonico 's second season next Friday against visiting Harvest Prep. The remainder of the schedule is: Aug. 30 at Huber Heights Wayne, Sept. 6 vs. Pickerington North, Sept. 13 at Logan, Sept. 20 vs. Canal Winchester, Sept. 27 at Lancaster, Oct. 4 vs. Newark, Oct. 11 vs. Groveport, Oct. 18 at Teays Valley and Oct. 25 vs. Reynoldsburg.
