Columbus police have identified a couple found dead in an apartment on Columbus' Northeast Side in an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday.

Sowmya Balasubramanian, 31, and Balasubramian Kathavarayan, 38, were pronounced dead at about 6:36 p.m. Tuesday, Columbus police said.

Police believe Kathavarayan killed Balasubramanian before killing himself.

The officers entered the apartment to check on the well-being of the children's parents and found the two adults with gunshot wounds, police said. EMS pronounced both dead at the scene.
