A man who shot a woman before turning a gun on himself Sunday in a suspected murder-suicide has died, Columbus police say.

Columbus police were dispatched about 1:50 p.m. to the 1100 block of Parma Avenue on the city's Southwest Side. A 911 caller reported screams and gunshots at a home. Police found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds, according to a news release.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was transported to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead at 2:56 p.m.

Police suspect the man shot the woman and then himself and said a preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was a murder motivated by domestic violence.

Both the man and the woman have been identified, but police are withholding their identities until an autopsy can be completed, Columbus police said.

Anyone with information on the shooting can contact Columbus Police Detective Pribe at 614-645-0114 or speak anonymously to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
