Woman charged with murder in shooting death of Columbus man on Northeast Side

A Columbus woman is charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of a man earlier this month on the city's Northeast Side.

Brittney Nicole McBride, 34, of the Shepard neighborhood on Columbus' Northeast Side, is charged with murder in the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Dajuan Rios, who also lives in the same neighborhood.

McBride appeared in court for an arraignment hearing Tuesday morning, where a judge set her bond at $800,085, according to court records. She is currently being held at the Franklin County jail.

Columbus police said they responded just before 11:30 p.m. Aug. 3 to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of Murray Avenue.

On arrival, police said they found Rios suffering from a gunshot wound. Columbus fire medics transported Rios in critical condition to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, Downtown, where he died from his injuries at 3:21 a.m., police said
