    Ohio high school basketball: See the schedule for the inaugural Holiday Hoopla showcase

    The Northland boys basketball team’s matchup with perennial state champion Richmond Heights and a finale between two Division I powers highlight the inaugural Holiday Hoopla High School Basketball Showcase in December.

    The event’s 34 teams were announced July 30 , and its schedule was released Wednesday morning. The Holiday Hoopla takes place from Dec. 27-29 at Greater Columbus Convention Center .

    Northland, which recently lost standout junior King Kendrick when he transferred to Caldwell Academy in Greensboro, North Carolina , faces a Richmond Heights team that has won the past three Division IV titles and is in Division V this season as part of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s expansion of tournament divisions . That game is the last of six on the first day.

    Olentangy Orange, a Division I regional runner-up each of the past two seasons, faces 2024 state runner-up Centerville in the final game at 8:15 p.m. Dec. 29.

    Other participating teams from central Ohio are 2024 Division III state runner-up Harvest Prep , Division I state semifinalist Delaware Hayes , Dublin Coffman, Dublin Jerome, Gahanna Lincoln, Hartley , Hilliard Bradley , Johnstown, Marysville, Pickerington Central, Pickerington North, Reynoldsburg, Walnut Ridge, West, Westerville Central and Westerville South.

    The showcase is presented by Bleacher Prospect, Bleacher Republic and NEO Spotlight.

    Tickets range from $15 to $50 and are available online . Day passes and single-game tickets are available.

    • Walnut Ridge vs. Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph, 1:15 p.m.
    • Marysville vs. Toledo St. John’s, 3 p.m.
    • Pickerington Central vs. Lakewood St. Edward, 4:45 p.m.
    • Hartley vs. Kettering Fairmont, 6:30 p.m.
    • Northland vs. Richmond Heights, 8:15 p.m.

    Three central Ohio teams to play in Shot Clock Shootout

    The weekend after Christmas also will feature the Shot Clock Shootout at Canton McKinley, a 15-game event sponsored by the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association.

    The OHSBCA gained permission from the OHSAA to use a shot clock, which is not sanctioned in Ohio .

    “Data and information will be gathered from this event to continue discussions surrounding the future implementation of the shot clock in the state of Ohio,” OHSBCA executive director Joe Balogh said.

    Three central Ohio teams are in the field: Lakewood and Worthington Christian’s boys and Olentangy’s girls.

    Worthington Christian will play Coraopolis (Pennsylvania) Moon Area at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 27.

    Olentangy’s girls face Stow at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 29, followed immediately by the game’s final event, Lakewood’s boys playing Stow.

    The Shot Clock Shootout field and schedule were announced Tuesday.
