When Rolling Stone introduced Beartooth a decade ago as one of 10 New Artists You Need To Know , the band's sound was described as “like a nervous breakdown, usually with enough optimism to push through.”

Fronted by Columbus resident Caleb Shomo , the band's star has continued to rise, as evidenced by the 100,000-plus tickets sold on their recent North American tour and an upcoming tour that will swing through Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and the U.K.

To finish up the tour, Beartooth will head home for a show at the Schottenstein Center on Jan. 18, with support from Dayseeker, Sleep Theory and Boundaries.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at ticketmaster.com .

Shomo founded Beartooth in 2012, originally playing every instrument while in the studio before being joined by a four-piece band. The current lineup features Zach Huston and Will Deely on guitars, Oshie Bichar on bass and Connor Denis on drums.

The group's style has inspired a laundry list of labels: metalcore, alternative metal, hard rock, melodic hardcore, melodic metalcore, post-hardcore, hardcore punk and pop punk.

So, it's unsurprising that their influences are many including AC/DC, Slipknot, Ice Cube, New Found Glory, Blink-182 , James Hetfield of Metallica , Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Disturbed — and surprisingly, Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, *NSYNC and One Direction.

Beartooth's numerous accolades include the 2022 Heavy Music Award for Best International Artist, three wins in the 2016 Loudwire Music Awards and the 2015 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards for Best Breakthrough Band.

The band's fifth studio album, "The Surface," dropped last October and a deluxe edition was released on Sept. 20 with six new tracks, live numbers and a new song, "ATTN."
