Authorities recovered a body from the Scioto River early Thursday morning on Columbus' Northwest Side.

Franklin County Coroner's Office spokesman Jeremy Blake said a person was pronounced dead by EMS at 12:26 a.m. Thursday near Hayden Run Road and U.S. Route 33. The coroner's office has not yet identified the person who died.

Columbus police spokeswoman Nicole Jaros said the department is investigating the death, but declined to release additional information.

All eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 33 closed Thursday morning during rush hour near the site where the body was recovered.

On Thursday morning, a live traffic map maintained by the Ohio Department of Transportation said those lanes were closed for a crash, but by 12:30 the message had been updated to state that the lanes were closed for repairs or maintenance.
