Ohio State football DT Tyleik Williams to be available at Michigan State

Ohio State starting defensive tackle Tyleik Williams is in line to return at Michigan State on Saturday night .

Coach Ryan Day told reporters at the team hotel check-in on Friday night that Williams will be available after missing last week’s nonconference win over Marshall with an undisclosed injury.

Williams had been practicing this week , a sign of progress as the Buckeyes prepared for their Big Ten opener. After Wednesday’s practice, Day said, “It was great to see, and he had a good day.” Day had previously described him as "day to day."

A standout interior defensive lineman, Williams had nine tackles, including two for a loss, and 1.5 sacks in Ohio State’s routs of Akron and Western Michigan.

In his place against the Thundering Herd, the Buckeyes turned to redshirt sophomore Hero Kanu to make his first start at defensive tackle alongside Ty Hamilton. Tywone Malone, who transferred to Ohio State from Mississippi last year, also rotated with him.

The full availability report listing Ohio State's players who are either out or questionable is to be made public two hours ahead of kickoff.

Players who are consider available for the game are not guaranteed to make an appearance. Starting left guard Donovan Jackson was available and in uniform during Week 2 after he was held out of the season opener with a hamstring injury, but did not play any snaps. Day said at the time that Jackson was available for only an "emergency situation."
