    Ohio breweries show up big at Great American Beer Festival

    Ohio breweries scored honors recently at the Great American Beer Festival .

    Seven breweries from the Buckeye State were awarded medals at the annual beer festival in Denver. More than 1,800 breweries from across the country competed Oct. 10-12, submitting 9,200 beers in all, according to a press release from the Ohio Craft Brewers Association.

    The Great American Beer Festival invites industry professionals from around the world to blind-taste brews across more than 200 style categories . It is among the largest craft beer competitions in the country.

    Central Ohio breweries shine at Denver beer fest

    The Brew Brothers brought home honors to Columbus this year, winning a bronze medal in the English mild or bitter category with its Toasty brew.

    Granville's Three Tigers Brewing was awarded a bronze medal in the oatmeal stout category for its Brother Sam beer, its first honor from the competition.

    Other Ohio breweries take home medals from Great American Beer Festival

    Five other Ohio breweries took home medals this weekend.

    From Cincinnati, Streetside Brewery , earned a gold medal in the English-style brown ale category for its Black Cats brew. It was the first time the brewery has won at the Great American Beer Festival.

    Also from Cincinnati, Brink Brewing continued its medal streak with its Moozie taking home bronze in the sweet stout or cream stout category.

    Wandering Monsters Brewery , of Cincinnati, also earned a bronze medal in the chocolate beer category with its Triple Chocolate Viator Obscura beer. The brewery opened in July 2023.

    Cleveland's Masthead Brewing returned to the festival this year and scored a bronze medal in the West Coast-style India pale ale category for its IPA for Aliens brew.

    Also from Cleveland, Noble Beast Brewing won gold for its Eau Rogue Belgian-style sour ale.
