BrewDog teams with nonprofits to craft beers for Pour It Forward Festival

In addition to raising their glasses, patrons at three BrewDog locations in Columbus soon will be lifting spirits in another way.

Breweries in Canal Winchester, Franklinton and New Albany are paying it forward by giving back to three local nonprofits — and to customers who want to show their support while sipping suds.

After voting on an organization to support, each bar paired up with that group to create a brew with a unique twist.

Besides Columbus, BrewDog has breweries in Cincinnati and Cleveland, as well as Atlanta, each of which also created a beer with a charity organization.

All six collaboration brews will be offered at the Pour It Forward Festival, a tasting event set for 6-10 p.m. Saturday at BrewDog Columbus, 96 Gender Road in Canal Winchester. The beers also will be on tap at participating bars Friday through Sunday.

Tickets for the festival are $25 at bit.ly/3UcmgIR . Attendees will receive a commemorative glass, beer fest passport and six 6-ounce samples.

BrewDog Columbus partnered with Gigi’s , a Columbus nonprofit regional care organization that provides homeless dogs with shelter , as well as veterinary, behavior and adoption services. The collaboration produced Gigi’s Triple Dog Dare, a coffee, chocolate and vanilla lager with a 4.9% ABV.

BrewDog New Albany, 97 E. Dublin Granville Road, and BrewDog Franklinton, 463 W. Town St., will offer Buddy Up Brew, a 7.2% ABV hazy citrus IPA. The brew is a joint effort with Buddy Up For Life , which offers programs including tennis, fitness, summer camp and life skills to individuals with Down syndrome.

These beers also will be served at local BrewDog establishments:

    • Created by BrewDog Cincinnati and Habitat for Humanity: Habitat for Brewmanity , 6.5% ABV peach IPA
    • Made by BrewDog Cleveland and LGBT Community Center: Queer Beer , 7.5% ABV tropical IPA
    • Produced by BrewDog Atlanta and Giving Kitchen: It’s Giving … Kitchen Lager , 4% ABV pilsner
    • Created by BrewDog USA Brewing Team and Canine Companions: Serveza Dog , 4% ABV sour margarita lager

For every pint of the special beers sold, $1 will be donated to the bars’ respective nonprofits. Attendees will receive a booklet advising them on beer-tasting and also can learn more about the work being done by each charitable partner.
