    Columbus native Isabelle Ai Durrenberger kicks off Sunday at Central chamber music series

    Sunday at Central , a chamber-music recital series that has been part of the local classical scene for 20 years, starts its latest season Nov. 24 with a performance by violinist Isabelle Ai Durrenberger .

    Durrenberger, who grew up in Upper Arlington and now performs with New York's Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, will explore folktale and folk-inspired violin pieces from the 20th century.

    Along with pianist Mariko Kaneda, she will perform “Sonata Slave,” by Dora Pejačević, “5 Pieces for violin and piano,” by Ottorino Respighi and Eugène Ysaye’s “Violin Sonata No. 6.”

    The recital is scheduled for 3 p.m. Nov. 24 at Broad Street Presbyterian Church, 760 E. Broad St. All Sunday at Central concerts are free.

    The series, supported in part by local foundations and arts agencies, started in 1994 to offer chamber music concerts in more intimate settings.

    Durrenberger's performance is part of a series within the series called "Where Are They Now?" It features rising musical stars with Columbus roots. The daughter of two music educators, she earned a degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and is currently a fellow of Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect program.

    The rest of the Sunday at Central series schedule is:

    • UCelli: The Columbus Cello Quartet: Jan. 19 at 3 p.m., Ohio History Center, 800 East 17th Ave.
    • Jeff Myers, Leonid Polonsky, Mariko Kaneda and musicians from the Columbus Symphony: March 30 at 3 p.m., Broad Street Presbyterian Church
    • Clarinet Trio: May 25 at 3 p.m., Broad Street Presbyterian Church
