Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives to feature Columbus' King Gyros Greek Restaurant

A local Greek joint will have its time in the spotlight this Friday, courtesy of Columbus-born celebrity chef Guy Fieri and his traveling red sports car.

King Gyros Greek Restaurant at 400 South Hamilton Road in Whitehall will be featured on a new episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" Friday at 9 p.m.

The episode will feature King Gyros' "gangster Greek" food with "flavor-forward faves like fully loaded lamb chops and signature stuffed grape leaves," according to the episode description .

King Gyros first announced its appearance on the show in a Facebook post from August 18 where it invited customers to speculate on what will be on the show.

"What do you think Guy Fieri saw about King Gyros in order to feature it in an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and dives on August 30th? What could it be, tell us! Family recipes? Garlicky Gyro sauce? Main meals like Dolmades and Lamb Chops? Fresh cut fries? Made from scratch Baklava and cheesecake? Fresh Brewed teas and Lemonade? 33 years of consistent flavor and service? Yianni’s story born in Rhodes Island, Greece and coming here at 10 years old? A combination of take- out, Drive-thru options and a mural-esque dining room?" the restaurant said in the post.

King Gyros will also be hosting a watch party with select food, photo opportunities and a projector showing the episode on the store's patio at 9 p.m. Friday.
