Those who watched Friday night’s game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky saw WNBA history — courtesy of Indiana’s star rookie, Caitlin Clark.

Friday’s game was the fourth showdown of the season between Clark and fellow rookie, Chicago’s Angel Reese. The first three games were all close, with each team winning a game by one point and Indiana defeating Chicago by eight in the other. This game deviated from that, with the Fever winning 100-81. But while the game wasn’t dramatic, it was historic.

Clark finished the game with 31 points and 12 assists. Those were game-high totals. And, as Adam Jacobi of Hawkeye Beacon noted, Clark posted “The first line of 30+ points and 12+ assists in WNBA history. Not among rookies. Ever.”

Additionally, Clark’s totals from Friday have rarely even been approached, let alone reached. StatMamba shared, “Caitlin Clark is the 5th player in WNBA history (& 1st rookie) to record 30+ PTS & 10+ AST.”

The way that Clark’s game has continued to grow throughout her first WNBA season, we’d expect to her equal and even surpass these stats in future games.
