    Good morning, Memphis!

This is Metro Editor Corinne Kennedy, and you're reading the Daily Briefing, our one-stop digital shop for the best Memphis stories from our award-winning Commercial Appeal team. And, as always, we're here to curate some of the best stories from some of the area's best journalists.

Elvis Presley's Graceland estate may be put up for public auction, but the King's granddaughter is fighting the sale and has filed a lawsuit claiming fraud, Neil Strebig reports in this story .

A public notice for the foreclosure sale of the Memphis estate was posted earlier this month . The notice alleges that Promenade Trust, which controls the Graceland estate at 3734 Elvis Presley Blvd., owes $3.8 million after failing to repay a loan taken out on May 16, 2018.

The public auction was scheduled for Thursday, May 23, at the Shelby County Courthouse in Memphis, but a temporary restraining order has been granted, according to Riley Keough's legal team. The lawsuit was filed on May 15 in Shelby County Chancery Court. An injunction hearing is scheduled for Wednesday between both parties in Chancery Court.

Inmate files lawsuit: A man detained pretrial at the Shelby County Jail at 201 Poplar, who was allegedly assaulted by corrections officers while handcuffed in a medical room, has sued the county, and a number of jail personnel, for a minimum of $500,000 in damages.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court Monday night, comes about six months after Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner and District Attorney Steve Mulroy announced that two deputies — Reginald Wilkins, a 16-year veteran of the department, and Odell Underwood, a 25-year veteran of the department — had been indicted in the alleged beating, Lucas Finton reports in this story .

DeSoto County dining: A beloved fast-food chicken chain is finally coming to the Mid-South, Jacob Wilt reports in this story .

After years of pleas from chicken tender lovers, Raising Cane's is opening a location in DeSoto County. It will be at 357 Goodman Road in Southaven, inside a closed O'Charley's next to Interstate 55.

Tigers basketball updates: Memphis basketball coach Penny Hardaway supports his son's decision to leave after one season with the Tigers, Jason Munz reports in this story . Ashton Hardaway committed to Saint Mary's earlier this month.

During an appearance on “Point Forward” — a podcast co-hosted by former NBA players Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner — Penny Hardaway also discussed a host of topics, ranging from his playing career to his thoughts on NIL.

House hunting?: Memphis recently ranked as one of the most affordable cities for median-income households to buy homes in.

Clever Real Estate released a study showing that 44 out of the 50 biggest metro areas in the United States don't have low enough prices to be considered affordable for a median-earning household, Jordan Green reports in this story .
