POLL: Vote for the boys high school athlete of the week, August 18-24

The 2024 TSSAA football season is finally upon us. Vote for the Memphis area boys athlete of the week for August 18-24.

Voting closes Thursday at 10 a.m.

Jackson Peters and Will Knighton, MUS: Peters and Knighton shared medalist honors (37) for the Tigers (151) in a match against St. Benedict (Inc.) at Orgill Park.

Geron Johnson, Bartlett: Johnson ran the ball 36 times for 338 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-17 victory over MUS.

Samuel Iroh, Collierville: Iroh had 10 total tackles, including five solo tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble, in a 20-10 win against Riverside.

Marlon Hammond, Cordova: Hammond had eight receptions for 135 yards and three touchdowns in a 32-14 victory over Sheffield.

Skylan Smith, Covington: Smith carried the ball 21 times for 230 yards and accounted for five touchdowns (four rushing) in a 35-0 victory over Munford.

Chandler Day, Houston: Day was 7-of-15 passing for 155 yards and two touchdowns. He also carried the ball six times for 43 yards and two scores in a 45-3 win over Briarcrest.

Brett Godwin, Lakeland Prep: Godwin was 19-of-28 passing for 244 yards and three touchdowns in a 38-20 victory over Hillcrest. He also rushed for a TD.

Tavarco Jackson, Melrose: Jackson carried the ball 16 times for 132 yards and three touchdowns in a 20-7 victory over East.

Thomas Davis, MUS: Davis had nine solo tackles and two assists in a 41-17 loss to Bartlett.

Kelvin Perkins, Southwind: Perkins completed 7 of 16 passes for 214 yards and four touchdowns in a 69-0 victory over Ridgeway. He also rushed for a TD.
