Southaven's Silo Square development is getting a grocery store. When to expect it

Silo Square, the largest mixed-use development in DeSoto, is officially getting its own grocery store.

South Point Grocery will soon occupy an approximately 20,000 square foot lot at 6295 Front St., behind Tekila Modern Mexican, according to a Thursday press release from Silo Square's Director of Marketing Lexie Hill Grisanti. Work at the site has already begun — construction will begin this fall, with a grand opening expected for mid-2025.

The store is being leased to locally-owned Castle Retail Group, which currently owns and operates other independent grocery stores in the Mid-South, including High Point Grocery and South Point Grocery in Downtown Memphis.

Silo Square developer Brian Hill said he wants Silo to feel like a traditional old town, and having a grocery store is an essential part of that idea.

"I've never walked into a grocery store as tastefully done a South Point is," Hill said. "Shopping sucks, I mean who wants to go to the grocery store? But this is a really cool place. It's a fraction of the size of a big box grocery store, yet you have every single thing you might need in there."

South Point Grocery's Downtown location, which the Southaven location will be similar to, has amenities like an in-house butcher, a large craft beer selection and a deli department, among others.

“Our focus has been giving our customers a great in-store experience," said Rick James, Castle Retail Group's CEO. "For us, that includes a clean store, with a focus on superior quality, fresh food, emphasis on full shelves, innovative variety and an interaction between customers and staff that changes grocery shopping from a chore to a pleasant part of the week."
