    Francine hits the Mid-South: Keep track of power outages, weather in the Memphis area

    Francine made landfall along the Louisiana coast as a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday , and the remnants of the storm have moved north, battering the Mid-South with heavy rain and high winds.

    The National Weather Service said the remnants of Francine will remain over the Mid-South into early next week. The Mid-South can expect scattered showers and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening Friday. Memphis is not longer under a flood watch, but parts of West Tennessee are.

    "Urban areas will be at particular risk of flooding from Tropical Depression Francine," according to the National Weather Service Memphis office.

    Memphis weather forecast: Heavy rain to continue through Saturday

    Friday has an 80% chance of precipitation during the day. There is a 50% chance of rain Friday evening. Friday will have a high of 71 degrees and a low of 66 degrees.

    Saturday will continue in a similar fashion with a 70% chance of rain during the day and a 30% chance of rain in the evening. The high will be 77 degrees and the low will be 68 degrees.

    Sunday will see an 80% chance of rain during the day and a 40% chance during the evening. The high will be 78 degrees and the low will be 67 degrees.

    Collierville Schools and Memphis-Shelby County Schools dismissed students early on Thursday, but all schools in the Memphis area plan to operate as normal on Friday.

    Memphis power outages

    As of 8:45 a.m., there were 248 separate outage events impacting 9,203 customers in various parts of Shelby County, according to the Memphis Light, Gas and Water outage map.
