NASHVILLE — Finally, the Memphis Grizzlies got some good news related to injuries.

Forward Jaren Jackson Jr. had left Tuesday's practice — the first of the season — with hamstring tightness. On Wednesday, the hamstring injury was categorized as a “low-grade strain” by coach Taylor Jenkins.

Memphis will be cautious with Jackson going forward, but there’s not expected to be concern on his availability for the regular-season opener on Oct. 23 against the Utah Jazz.

“Not a firm timeline but very good news,” Jenkins said. “We’ll kind of unpack over the next couple of days.”

A MRI was done and determined the encouraging results for Jackson’s injury. The next step will be getting with the medical team to figure out a plan and determine when Jackson will begin to ramp up.

“He’s feeling great,” Jenkins said. “He’s responding well to treatment so far.”

Memphis is currently without GG Jackson, Vince Williams Jr. and Cam Spencer. Williams will be reevaluated in late October after suffering a stress reaction in his left shin; Jackson is aiming to come back in late November after having foot surgery; and Spencer is currently in a boot while dealing with an ankle sprain.
