Memphis football is getting a little more recognition in the national college football polls.

The Tigers (6-1, 2-1 AAC) received six votes in the US LBM Coaches Poll after their 52-44 win over North Texas on Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. That was two more votes than they received last week, when they appeared in the "receiving votes" category for the first time since they fell out of the rankings after a Sept. 21 loss to Navy.

Memphis was the fifth team out of the rankings, essentially putting them at a tie for No. 30. Boise State (No. 19), Army (No. 23) and Navy (No. 24) were the Group of Five teams ranked. UNLV was the first team out of the rankings. Liberty also received six votes.

Memphis did not receive any votes in the AP Poll.

The Tigers used an encouraging offensive performance to beat the Mean Green (5-2, 2-1) on Saturday . While Memphis' defense struggled to contain North Texas, the offense put up 52 points to help seal a critical conference win. The Mean Green had come in with one of the best offenses in the country.

Memphis is back in action Saturday (11 a.m. CT, ESPNU) when it hosts Charlotte at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.
