Grizzlies fall to Rockets: By the time the final horn sounded during the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets game on Friday night at the Toyota Center, Grizzlies backup point guard Scotty Pippen Jr. had played more minutes than two-time all-star Ja Morant.

Desmond Bane, who was limited to two minutes in the first quarter due to foul trouble, also played five more minutes of game action than Morant, Damichael Cole reports in this story .

Considering that Morant is one of the NBA's best players, the decision was puzzling, but Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins added more context to why Morant played only 24 minutes in the 128-108 loss.

Friday night lights: Collierville football led by 10 early into the second quarter Friday, momentum mounting as the Dragons' defense suffocated Whitehaven's offense, Samuel Iroh and others smothering unsuspecting ball carriers, not relenting an inch.

Wide receiver Emanuel Palmer drifted back off the line to his left as the ball was snapped to quarterback Grant Troutman , who quickly flicked it to the dangerous slot man, Wendell Shepherd Jr. reports here .

Palmer sped through two defenders and then one lone safety on the way to a 57-yard touchdown in a 27-6 victory for Collierville.
