WEST LAFAYETTE − The Village of West Lafayette hosted a ribbon-cutting recently for improvements at Waterworks Park . It has been home to Ridgewood recreation ball diamonds for years, but many new features have been added over the last several months.

A Neighborhood Revitalization Grant of $750,000 from the Ohio Department of Development paid for additions of a playground, marked paved parking and a picnic shelter.

Mayor Jessie Tubbs thanked everyone for their efforts and coordination with the project, especially to Village Administrator Tammy Hicks for her extra attention to project details.

Hubie Cushman and Kevin Ely volunteered to mark a trail on the hillside and the Coshocton County Career Center's Natural Resources Team helped clear the trail, Tubbs said.

WE R WL collaborated with the building trades department of the career center and Fresno Fab to offer sponsored benches to community members.

WE R WL also organized trees to be planted around the park in honor of or in memory of community members or businesses. This included assistance from the Garden Patch and Fresno Fab.

A special tree at the entrance of the park was dedicated to former Councilman Ron Lusk for his years serving the village of West Lafayette at every opportunity. Lusk died in February at the age of 84.

"He was a special man and we will remember him and his love for all things West Lafayette and Ridgewood always," Tubbs said in a press release.
