COSHOCTON − The Coshocton Fire Department reported a smoker fire at 12:35 p.m. Thursday at the Warehouse Steak and Stein Restaurant, 400 N. Whitewoman St.

Chief Rusty Dreher in a press release said fire personnel arrived to find a working fire in a kitchen area of the basement. The blaze extended out of the smoker and into the kitchen area.

Dreher said the building was evacuated and there were no injuries. The fire was quickly suppressed and contained to the room of origin. There was fire and water damage to the kitchen area and smoke damage throughout the building.

Dreher stated in the release the fire remains under investigation, but it appears to be accidental. Estimated damage is about $23,000. Dreher said upon clearing the scene at 2:36 p.m. it was unclear how long the restaurant would be closed.

Assisting on scene were the Jackson Township and Three Rivers fire departments, Coshocton County Emergency Medical Services, Mayor Mark Mills, Roscoe Village employees, Philip A. Wagner Inc., American Electric Power and Prince's Wrecker Service.
