High school basketball season in the Houma- and Thibodaux-area came to an end short of Marsh Madness, as all nine boys teams who qualified for the LHSAA playoffs lost before the quarterfinals. But with the season over, it's time to name this season's All-Courier team for boys basketball.

Only five players can make the All-Courier team, with most of them earning All-District honors for their performances this season. All of the All-Courier players at least led their teams to the LHSAA playoffs, and again, multiple representatives led their teams to playoff wins.

Here's a look at the 2023-24 All-Courier team for Houma- and Thibodaux-area high school boys basketball:

    Kylan Billiot, Terrebonne

Billiot is better known for his skill on the football field — he's an LSU football signee — but he's not too shabby on the basketball court either. Billiot was named First-Team All-District in Class 5A District 7 after averaging 13.8 points, 12 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and four blocks per game.

    Mikey Carey, Covenant Christian

Carey made his mark on the Lions despite being just a freshman. He was an offensive and defensive leader for CCA at the power forward spot as the Lions went 21-11 with an appearance in the Division IV select playoffs.

    Chris Coleman, H.L. Bourgeois

Coleman was named a First-Team All-District in Class 5A District 7 for the third consecutive year this season. He led HLB to a playoff win over Central Lafourche and closed his high school career by averaging 18.8 points, five rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

    Evan Griffin, Central Lafourche

Griffin led the Trojans to a playoff berth and nearly upset H.L. Bourgeois in the opening round. That capped off a senior season in which he was named First-Team All-District in Class 5A District 7. He averaged 19.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game for CL.

    Jordan Matthews, Vandebilt Catholic

Matthews led the Terriers to a 25-5 record and a berth in the Division II select playoffs. In addition to that, he was also named a First-Team All-District in Class 4A District 7 and was named the District MVP — the second time in his career he's had the honor.
