Girls high school basketball season in the Houma- and Thibodaux-area ended late last month in Marsh Madness.

With the season over, it's time to look at the All-Courier team for high school girls basketball. Only five players in the Houma- and Thibodaux-area could qualify. Each one of these players at least led their teams to the LHSAA playoffs and won a playoff game, with several making it to the quarterfinals or beyond.

Here's a look at the 2023-24 All-Courier girls basketball team:

    Caroline Adams, E.D. White

Adams was widely seen as one of the area's top players entering her senior season, and she backed it up. Adams led EDW to a 23-6 regular-season record this year, and capped off her high school career with a first-round bye, a playoff win, and a trip to the quarterfinals in Division II select.

    Gabby Campbell, Vandebilt Catholic

The only senior on Vandebilt Catholic's roster this season, Campbell stepped into a leadership role in 2023-24. She led the Lady Terriers to a 21-7 record, at one point winning 13 consecutive games and qualifying for the Division II select semifinals.

    Maddie Carey, Covenant Christian

Carey took CCA to the Division IV select playoffs and even won a playoff game, finishing the season with a 20-10 record. She even finished her high school career with the ultimate individual accomplishment, having scored her 1,000th-career point in late January.

    Destiny Pierce, Houma Christian

Pierce's senior season may not have started until mid-December — the whole HCS team got a late start as head coach Jamar Celestine missed time due to his commitments coaching football — but Pierce still made her mark, leading the Lady Warriors to a 13-5 record including a playoff win over Sarah T. Reed to open the Division III select bracket.

    Taylor Thomas, Thibodaux

Thomas closed her junior season with one of the best runs of any team in the Houma- and Thibodaux-area this year. Two games under .500 in early January, Thomas led THS to nine straight wins, including an upset of Neville in the first round of the Division I non-select playoffs, before closing the season at 18-12.
