With the 2024 high school football season beginning Aug. 23, The Courier Journal has compiled a list of the 10 top defensive backs in the Louisville area. We are asking you — our readers — to vote here on which defensive back you think will have the best season.
Listed below are 10 nominees for preseason defensive back of the year.
Players from the following counties were eligible: Bullitt, Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby and Spencer.
The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, and the winner will be announced Friday, Aug. 23.

Year: Senior
Height/weight: 5-9/150
What to know: Posted 16 tackles and six interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. Earned first-team all-district and honorable-mention All-Louisville honors.
Year: Junior
Height/weight: 6-0/170
What to know: Recorded three interceptions and earned first-team all-district honors. Has an offer from Eastern Kentucky.

Year: Senior
Height/weight: 5-11/177
What to know: Posted a team-high 41 solo tackles and four interceptions. Earned first-team all-district honors. Also had 19 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown. State champion wrestler at 150 pounds. Has an offer from Mount St. Joseph.
Year: Junior
Height/weight: 6-0/170
What to know: Posted 16 solo tackles and one interception as a sophomore at Shelby County. Has an offer from Toledo.
Year: Sophomore
Height/weight: 6-2/180
What to know: Played eight games as a freshman, posting two solo tackles. Has offers from Kentucky and Louisville.

Height/weight: 6-0/170
What to know: Posted 10 solo tackles and two interceptions. Earned first-team All-Louisville and second-team All-State honors from The Courier Journal . As a wide receiver, Harris had 25 catches for 620 yards and 11 touchdowns.

What to know: Led the Jackets with 79 solo tackles, four interceptions and two forced fumbles. Earned first-team All-Louisville and third-team All-State honors from The Courier Journal. Has offers from Eastern Kentucky, Marian and Pikeville.

What to know: Ranked second on team with 44 solo tackles and added 15 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one interception. Also caught 48 passes for 834 yards and scored 21 touchdowns (13 receiving, five rushing, three returns).

What to know: Posted 42 solo tackles and one interception and returned a fumble for a touchdown. Also caught 12 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns. Earned first-team all-district honors. Has offers from Eastern Kentucky, Marian and Tennessee-Martin.
