A man has been arrested in connection with the deadly Sunday morning shooting in the Old Highlands neighborhood that left two other men dead.

Louisville Metro Police arrested Richie Raymont Williams, 37, on Thursday in connection with the death of 29-year-old Montay Wade in the Baxter Avenue shooting. He faces charges of homicide and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and is currently being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.

In a statement, Louisville Metro Council Councilman Ben Reno-Weber said police believe the incident was targeted and took place in the presence of two off-duty uniformed police officers.

"Metro Police believe this was a targeted hit stemming from a long-standing conflict, rather than an isolated incident that evening," Reno-Weber said.

The arrest was made by LMPD's Homicide and Fugitive Units after two were shot at the 900 block of Baxter Avenue around 1:45 a.m. Sunday , LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said. One man, later identified as 20-year-old Michael Bachelor Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, later identified as Wade, was taken by first responders to University of Louisville Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

A short time later, a third man injured in the shooting arrived by private means to Norton Women and Children's Hospital. He is expected to survive, Bradley said.

Bachelor Jr.'s case remains under investigation separately, police said.
