A possible suspect in a Friday morning shooting that left a woman dead in Louisville's Bon Air neighborhood fled from Louisville Metro Police and died by suicide, officials say.

LMPD's Fugitive Unit and SWAT were following investigative leads in the 3400 block of Kramers Lane at around 1:45 p.m. Friday when a possible suspect fled the scene and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sixth Division officers initially responded to the 2200 block of Liverpool Lane just after 5 a.m. Friday to discover a woman with multiple gunshot wounds, LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said. Emergency Medical Services pronounced her dead at the scene.

LMPD officers didn't discharge weapons at the scene. The Public Integrity Unit is investigating.
