Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will appear as a presidential candidate on Kentucky's General Election ballot in November, despite recently suspending his campaign and endorsing Republican nominee Donald Trump.

In a social media post, Secretary of State Michael Adams said Kennedy filed to run for president with his office on Monday. After reviewing Kennedy's submission, Adams said he would place Kennedy on the ballot.

Kennedy announced he would suspend his campaign on Friday, saying he plans to remove his name from 10 battleground states and already started the process in Arizona and Pennsylvania.

Trump thanked Kennedy for the "very nice endorsement" following the announcement, while members of Kennedy's family who have previously spoken out against his campaign called the endorsement "a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear."

Kentucky's ballot will be certified on Sept. 9. Independent candidates are able to file until Sept. 6.
