Task force members said Tuesday's meeting is intended "to allow individuals to share how families would like to see the district’s academic offerings, educational capabilities, and operations improved."

The meeting will be one of two sessions that will take place in Louisville, with the second to happen at the Male High School Auditorium on Sept. 10, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The remaining sessions through Nov. 18 will take place in Frankfort .

The Efficient & Effective School District Governance Task Force was established with the passing of House Concurrent Resolution 81 earlier this year after a failed attempt in 2023. While the bill didn't specify JCPS, schools under the supervision of the task force exceed 75,000 students, and JCPS is the only district falling in the category.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Ken Fleming, R-Louisville, and compares the structures and operations of JCPS to other districts of similar size and demographics in other states, weighing the challenges and benefits of creating new districts.
