A man is in custody after allegedly breaking windows on vehicles and buildings around Louisville, leaving thousands of dollars in damage.

Alvaro Zecenarro, 30, was arrested Wednesday on multiple counts of felony criminal mischief. He is being held at the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on a $25,000 bond, according to jail records.

Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said the Fifth Division began investigating after noticing a rise in reports of vandalized vehicles and property damage in the area. Detectives were later able to identify Zecenarro as a suspect through "video and physical evidence," including clothing worn during the incidents.

Records obtained by The Courier Journal show a string of vandalism incidents beginning Aug. 16. Mitchell said detectives believe Zecenarro may have been involved in at least 13 cases of criminal misconduct, including the vandalism of St. Frances of Rome Church , which left $45,000 in damage.

Mitchell said more charges from stemming from vandalism and east and south-central Jefferson County are likely.

Zecenarro has a preliminary hearing scheduled in Jefferson District Court on Sept. 9. LMPD's investigation remains ongoing.
