Body recovered from Ohio River near downtown Louisville

Louisville Metro Police is investigating after local authorities found a body floating in the Ohio River near downtown Thursday night.

LMPD stated that just after 7 p.m., a report was made of what appeared to be a body floating in the river near 9th Street and Interstate 64. The department's river unit and Louisville Fire responded, recovering it near 10th Street and Rowan Street at around 8 p.m., LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said.

Officials said they could not determine the identity of the individual at the time. LMPD's homicide unit is investigating.
