Kentucky artists Tyler Childers and Jack Harlow were among the nominees at the 40th annual MTV Video Music Awards . Since 1984, the awards have been the scene of iconic moments including Madonna, Taylor Swift, and Eminem.

During the 2024 Awards, which aired live Wednesday from the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York, fans were treated to “supersized performances” from artists including Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Teddy Swims, Lenny Kravitz, and more. Katy Perry received the MTV Video Vanguard Award during the show and performed some of her biggest hits for the first time on the MTV stage since 2017. Megan Thee Stallion, who served as the host of the show, was also a nominee.

The big question of the night, "Will she or won't she?" was answered a mere two minutes after the show opened as cameras shifted to Taylor Swift dancing in the audience. The pop star led the nominations with 12 — eight for her “Fortnight” music video — two social categories and nods in the Best Pop and Artist of the Year categories. Moments later Swift and Post Malone were awarded the first award of the night for Best Collaboration: "Fortnight."

Swift went on to win seven awards Wednesday, including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year. That makes her the solo artist with the most career VMA wins, with a record 30 VMAs over her career, besting Beyonce’s 25 wins as a solo artist. She is also the first singer to win the Video of the Year award five times.

She also won for Song of the Summer, Best Pop, Best Direction, and Best Editing.

Here's a look at how Kentucky artists Childers and Harlow did at the 2024 MTV VMAs.
