Asia "AD" Durr was one of the best players to come through Louisville's women's basketball program .

Durr, who is nonbinary, was a two-time ACC Player of the Year honoree and is second in all-time scoring (2,485 points) behind fellow Cardinals great Angel McCoughtry (2,779).

The former Cardinals guard now will turn their attention from the court to the sidelines. Durr has joined the Charlotte women's basketball program's staff as the director of scouting and recruiting, the 49ers announced Monday.

Durr was the No. 2 overall pick of the 2019 WNBA Draft, selected by the New York Liberty. Their professional career came with a fair share of adversity, though, with the guard suffering from the effects of COVID-19. They were granted a medical exemption from the WNBA in 2020 and didn't compete in the 2021 season.

Durr returned for the 2022 season and was traded to the Atlanta Dream a month after the season started. Last year, they averaged 4.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in 36 games as a reserve.

They join a Charlotte women's basketball program that went 16-15 last season and will have a new head coach in Tomekia Reed, who previously coached at Jackson State and was hired in April.
