Power has been restored for most Louisville residents, but thousands of northeast Kentucky residents remain without electricity two days after remnants of Tropical Storm Helene arrived in the state.

About 1,000 Jefferson County residents were without power Sunday morning, according to LG&E's outage tracker. At least 205,000 customers in Louisville and throughout the state lost power over the weekend.

In a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter, LG&E said power had been restored to 87% of customers in what was the fourth-largest outage event in the past 20 years.

"We continue to work around the clock repairing the nearly 1,500 downed wires and 101 poles that have been assessed so far," LG&E stated.

There were an estimated 57,380 outages in Kentucky Sunday morning, Gov. Andy Beshear said on X.
