Twelve-toed feet, schoolyard taunts, and Gen Z were a topic of discussion at WDRB — and a source of laughter when the segment was featured on the most recent episode of HBO's " Last Week Tonight with John Oliver ."

Here's what the nation saw Sunday night of Louisville anchors on the popular HBO television program.

What is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver?

"Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" is an Emmy-award winning show on HBO, first premiering in 2014 and currently airing its 11th season on the network. The show is "a satirical, insightful, and meticulously researched look at current events in the U.S. and around the globe," as described on HBO's website , and features comedian and Daily Show alum John Oliver as its weekly host.

What was John Oliver's Sept. 29's "...And Now" segment on Last Week Tonight?

Following an in-depth look into federal courts, John Oliver ended Sept. 29's episode with a "And Now..." segment entitled "People on TV Learn that Gen Z Don't Like To Show Their Feet." The discussion included various broadcast journalists or anchors speaking about why young adults and teenagers like to clothe their feet and how that influences their choice of footwear (from chunky sneakers to socks with sandals).

Why were Louisville anchors featured on Last Week Tonight?

Local media personalities featured in the segment included several anchors from WDRB, a television station located in Louisville, Kentucky.

Anchors of WDRB Mornings spoke of the phenomenon, entitled in their broadcast as "Gen Z Hates Feet," and expressed befuddlement at the seeming display of embarrassment by the younger generation over their extremities. Two anchors shared stories of going to school with classmates who had Polydactyly, a condition in which a person is born with extra fingers or toes.

While several anchors said people should feel no embarrassment over whatever condition their feet are in, Candyce Clifft showed empathy with her own story during the broadcast.

"I have very long, skinny feet, and I have long toes, like I could use my feet like hands," Clifft said. "I could pick up stuff with my feet."

Clifft said she didn't wear sandals for a long time because she was teased over her feet in elementary school but now no longer feels self-conscious over them.

WDRB's inclusion was the longest of the local broadcasts shown during the segment, lasting several minutes before John Oliver ended the bit to say farewell to his audience.

How to watch WRDB anchors on 'Last Week Tonight'

The segment is at the very end of Season 11, Episode 24, which aired Sunday, Sept. 9. It's titled "Federal Courts." "Last Week Tonight" is available streaming on Max.
