KHSAA soccer draws set: St. Xavier vs Trinity in Seventh Region Tournament quarterfinal

Friday’s draws for the Sixth and Seventh Region soccer tournaments produced a showcase matchup on Sunday.

St. Xavier (16-3-3), ranked No. 1 in the state and the defending state champion, will travel to No. 3 Trinity (19-1-1) at 6 p.m. Sunday for a quarterfinal of the Seventh Region Tournament.

St. X lost to No. 4 Collegiate 2-1 in Thursday’s 26 ^th District final , forcing the Tigers to play at a district champion in the first round of the regional.

St. X has won two straight Seventh Region titles and five of the past seven. Trinity is seeking its first Seventh Region title since 2015.

Trinity beat St. X 3-1 on Sept. 25.

Collegiate and No. 20 Manual drew on the bottom half of the Seventh Region draw and could meet in a semifinal.

No. 23 DeSales is the defending Sixth Region champion and will host Jeffersontown at 3 p.m. Sunday in a regional quarterfinal. No. 7 Butler, which lost 2-1 to DeSales in the 22 ^nd District final, will play at Bullitt East at 5 p.m. Sunday.

On the girls side, No. 1-ranked Sacred Heart (17-1-2) will host Ballard at 10 a.m. Saturday in a Seventh Region quarterfinal. No. 6 Assumption (10-6-3) drew on the opposite side of the bracket from Sacred Heart and will host Central at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Bullitt East (17-3-2) is the defending Sixth Region champion and will play at North Bullitt at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Tuesday at North Bullitt – Butler-Bullitt East winner vs. Bullitt Central-Fairdale winner, 5:30 p.m.; Jeffersontown-DeSales winner vs. Holy Cross-Moore winner, 7:30 p.m.

Thursday at North Bullitt – Final, 6 p.m.

Seventh Region

Sunday (hosted by district champions) – Francis Parker (8-11-1) at Eastern (14-7-2), 6 p.m.; St. Xavier (16-3-3) at Trinity (19-1-1), 6 p.m.; Ballard (7-10-3) at Manual (16-5-2), 2 p.m.; Atherton (7-11-1) at Collegiate (18-2), 6 p.m.

Tuesday at Ballard – Francis Parker-Eastern winner vs. St. Xavier-Trinity winner, 6 p.m.; Ballard-Manual winner vs. Atherton-Collegiate winner, 8 p.m.

Wednesday at Sacred Heart – Final, 7 p.m.
