Backup quarterback Brock Shoemaker passed for 130 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Trinity High School football team to a 49-0 victory at Eastern on Friday.
Shamrocks coach Jay Cobb said he gave sophomore quarterback Zane Johnson the night off to give Shoemaker, a senior, and sophomore Brodie Pfeiffer some experience at quarterback.
“We rested a few people tonight,” Cobb said. “You’ll see Zane back next week against Oldham County. There’s no injury there.”
Trinity — ranked No. 2 in Class 6A — improved to 7-2 and will close its regular season Friday at Oldham County.
Shoemaker played the first half, and Pfeiffer was 2 for 4 for 26 yards during the second half.
Chris Wilson rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown to lead Trinity’s rushing attack. A.J. Green, Nation Roe-McBroom, Mason Scherer and Will McCauley had touchdown catches from Shoemaker.
Eastern (3-5) managed just 47 total yards.
Chayce Burton carried 11 times for 64 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bulldogs (7-1) over the visiting Tigers (4-4).
Burton’s 9-yard touchdown run gave Male — ranked No. 1 in Class 6A — a 7-0 lead at the 7:24 mark of the first quarter.
Male also got a 37-yard field goal from Seth Henson and a 45-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Williams to Antonio Harris, both coming in the second quarter.
Williams finished 8 for 18 for 87 yards with two interceptions. Harris had four catches for 58 yards.
Neither team managed much offense, with Male outgaining Fern Creek 130-112 yards. Tigers quarterback K.P. Passmore completed 9 of 19 passes for 61 yards.
Caden Long’s 2-point conversion run in overtime gave the Bearcats (6-2) the victory over the host Eagles (5-3) in a battle of Class A rivals.
Parker Rudolph scored all three touchdowns for KCD, including the one in overtime that made it 21-20 before Long’s game-winning conversion.
Marlon Harbin rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers (5-3) over the host Green Wave (5-3).
St. X quarterback Mason Trimble completed 24 of 35 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 35 yards and a score.
Anthony Barbee was the top receiver with eight catches for 95 yards. Kyle Krupp had a 10-yard touchdown reception from Trimble.
Larry Irvin’s 7-yard touchdown run in the first half held up as the host Bruins (3-5) beat the Colonels (6-2).
Colin Daniels passed for 150 yards and three touchdowns to lead the host Mustangs (6-2) over the Wolverines (6-2).
Dugan Kingston rushed for 86 yards and also threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Lucas Tompkins.
Tompkins finished with six catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and Gray Schmittel had five catches for 100 yards and two scores.
Micah Rice led the North Oldham defense with eight tackles and a forced fumble.
Kade Goodin accounted for five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) to lead the Titans (4-4) over the host Bearcats (3-5).
Goodin completed 21 of 30 passes for 263 yards and also carried 23 times for 160 yards.
Collins wide receiver Quinten Wooten had seven catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Saxton Howard passed for 134 yards and three touchdowns — all to Sam Pearson — and also rushed for a score to lead the Eagles (6-2) over the Lions (3-5) at Moore.
Ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, Lexington Christian rolled up 457 yards of offense. Leland Edwards rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on eight carries.
DuBois quarterback Brian Dickerson passed for 169 yards and threw touchdown passes to Wychoff Morris and Maresse Naves.
