EVSC high school graduations take place this week in Evansville

EVANSVILLE — A busy week of local high school graduations beckons, with cap and gown ceremonies beginning Wednesday at Central and North high schools.

Commencement at Central begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday. North High School's commencement begins at 7:30 p.m.

AIS (Academy for Innovative Studies) commencement begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, with EVSC Virtual Academy at 6:30 p.m. and New Tech Institute commencement at AIS at 8 p.m.

According to EVSC, only North High School, which serves more than 1,400 students, needs to distribute tickets for outdoor commencements.

"These tickets are issued directly to the seniors, who then distribute to their families. All schools will need to issue tickets to their seniors in the event rain forces the ceremonies to be moved inside the gyms," EVSC spokesman Jason Woebkenberg said in an email.
