EVANSVILLE – The Vanderburgh County Coroner's Office has identified the two people struck and killed by a car last week in Evansville.

Regina Hinkel, 76, and Mark Alan Jeffers, 61, died at the scene of the incident in the 1200 block of North Fulton Avenue. It was reported to police at 8:34 p.m. on July 4.

A police spokeswoman told the Courier & Press Friday that no arrests were made following the incident, and that investigators were awaiting the results of the driver's blood draw and for the accident reconstruction report to be completed.

"The driver was cooperative with officers on scene," the spokeswoman said.

Officer Taylor Merriss reiterated that on Monday. She said "foul play isn't considered" at this time, and that any change would hinge on the results of the investigation.
