The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are possible in the Tri-State on Thursday, disrupting what has been a pleasant weather week in the area.

Here's what forecasters are saying about the storm chances.

How likely is severe weather in Evansville on Thursday?

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the region in a "slight risk" zone for severe weather, which is the second-lowest level out of five on the scale, which runs from "marginal" to "high."

What types of severe weather are possible?

The National Weather Service says the primary concerns are damaging winds, but large hail cannot be ruled out. Heavy rainfall could accompany some of the storms, creating isolated flooding issues, as well.

When is the severe weather possible?

The greatest threat will be from 3 p.m. through midnight, according to the National Weather Service. The best chances are actually just west of the Tri-State in Southern Illinois and Southeastern Missouri.
